PINs, Passwords, Who’s Got Access?
|
Our server implementation team finalized a login system in January that moved our Member Resources under a secure area and instituted a systems of IDs and passwords for current members.
A Personal Identification Number (PIN) was distributed both this year and last on membership card letters sent from the National Office. Also, the PIN was distributed to three-year, five-year, and Life members in a mailing about the Personal Data Questionnaire last year; there was a similar mailing sent to our multi-year members in March.
To access the Web site, use your membership number and PIN to access the site for the first time; there’s a handy password change form available so that you can change the PIN to a more memorable password once you’ve gained initial access. (The Bulletin login and password will be available for a number of months during this transition.) We’re working to provide this same service to Local Group webmasters for ongoing access to their sites!
As we move forward, you’ll also be able to review and update your member information online in a secure environment. Discussion boards, a new search engine, and crossword puzzles are also under way. Most importantly and as mentioned last month, we’re currently testing electronic distribution of monthly reports.
Additionally, you may see that the main page of the Member Resources section contains more information than before. If you have any newsworthy articles about local events or members, please contact PR Coordinator Catherine Barney at (817) 607-0060 x139 or PRCoordinator@AmericanMensa.org.
If you have any problems accessing the site, first remember that our passwords are case-sensitive and then call (817) 607-0060 x199 or email WebServices@AmericanMensa.org.
Stay tuned…. There’s more to come!
Many thanks to Matt Crawford, Tim Folks, Stacey Kirsch, Steve Levinthal, and Mary Dwyer Wolfe for their recent help with our Web server administration!
