American Mensa encourages support of its local communities by members and local group activities through various community programs.
|
Community Activities Program (CAP)
The Community Activities Program is designed to encourage local groups to participate in any local community enrichment activity they choose. Mensa encourages groups to share their experiences and ideas with other groups around the nation. Awards are given annually.

CultureQuest®:
Nearly 100 teams from the U.S. and Canada sit for this 90-minute test of cultural knowledge at exactly the same time on the same day across the nation. The top 20 teams receive cash awards, traditionally designated for their groups' scholarship funds. Questions range from politics to science and from entertainment to current events.
|
Gifted Children Resource Program
Through a range of resources, information on scholarships and research grants, and links to other Web sites, the Gifted Children's program is designed to serve as a source of information for parents, educators, and gifted children.

Project Inkslinger®
Project Inkslinger® was originally created ten years ago to encourage Mensa to provide books for libraries that had been devastated through flooding. Since then, it has been expanded to encourage local Mensa groups to provide books and other reading material to any local public or school library in need.
|
Project Literacy
The literacy program provides funding to groups working toward literacy in local communities. These are groups outside of Mensa, but within which local Mensans volunteers. Mensans apply for funding on behalf of these groups. Grants are given on an annual basis.
|
Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
Currently, more than 150 special interest groups (SIGs) are available to members of American Mensa. These groups are started and maintained by members who share a common interest.
