Dr. Abbie F. Salny Proctor of the Year 2003
|
Abbie Proctor of the Year Award: - John D. Schultz of Northern Michigan Mensa
Jack Schultz truly enjoys being a proctor and believes in the importance of the role. Since he first became a proctor in 1997, he has devoted countless hours to publicizing and conducting regular test sessions in western Michigan. As a result of new membership in that area, a new group, Northern Michigan Mensa, was formed.
Jack's dedication to Mensa goes beyond testing. One member said when she moved to Michigan, Jack drove more than 40 miles to meet her and invite her to participate in the local group's activities. He even went so far as to have the group go to her town for dinner one evening at a local restaurant.
"Jack believes the local proctor is the most important contact potential members make," said Susan Styles. "Often the proctor is the only person a candidate talks to before deciding to test and join the group."
Jack is a great proctor and ambassador for Mensa.
Proctor of the Year Award: -
Dave Felt of Greater Los Angeles Area Mensa
Dave Felt is a class-A proctor.
He is always diligent in arranging regular test sessions and responding to testing inquiries. He is also very attentive to new and retiring proctors.
Dave has also been truly exemplary in his assistance with special projects. He was a key player in Mensa's early involvement with the Test the Nation TV program. The production company for the program was on a "need it yesterday" schedule, so Dave took time off work and made himself available to find test locations and proctors to help the TV producers "test the test."
"Dave’s work on this project was way over and above any expectation," said Barbara Lytle. "With almost no notice, he found candidates and a location for the test. He presented Mensa in an admirable light and had to take much time off work with no notice to accomplish it. Without him, the tremendous publicity boost from Test the Nation may not have occurred."
