Trivia Challenge II

Once Upon a Time . . .

Quick! Name three Grimm's Fairy Tales that don't showcase the murder of one character as the prelude to the happy ending for another! You don't believe these stories are less than suitable for impressionable young minds? Well, OK. Here are summaries of a few popular and well-known classic fairy tales (mostly from the Brothers Grimm, but a few from other sources). All you have to do is identify the fairy tale. It doesn't get any easier than this. Even a child could do it.

Once you complete the challenge, you will receive the number of questions you answered correctly and a brief scoring evaluation. You will also receive a list of all the answers.

We would like to remind you the Trivia Challenge is strictly for entertainment purposes and will not qualify you for Mensa.

Best of luck!

1. A young man participates in several fraudulent acts instigated by his clever and deceitful companion to gain access to a financial and political power base by means of extortion, racketeering and murder.

2. The title character of this story blackmails a young woman to gain financial and sexual favors, while the woman reneges on the promises she has made to him.

3. A young woman, with the assistance of an experienced con artist, trespasses at an invitation-only social event, and escapes immediate detection, only to be caught later by identification with a unique piece of apparel.

4. A young girl is accosted by a violent stranger who murders a close relative of hers in order to gain access to her and threaten her life for a second time.

5. A wicked character in this story deceives several youngsters and then attempts to kill them and eat them. One escapes and manages to turn the tables to rescue his siblings.

6. A greedy woman takes advantage of her husband's good luck to amass a great fortune, but, by her unlimited avarice, loses everything for both of them in the end.

7. The title characters are hunted by a vicious adversary who vandalizes their property and attempts to murder them. Through trickery and deceit, they turn the tables and murder him instead.

8. A young woman defies her guardian's wishes and continues to see her off-limits boyfriend but foolishly lets the secret affair be discovered by the guardian, which results in imprisonment and life-threatening injuries as well as a bad hair day.

9. A woman is ordered by her brutish husband into an extremely restricted lifestyle under the threat that he will abandon her if she does not comply. When an inadvertant mistake is made in the restrictions, he blames her and does indeed abandon her. She then slavishly tries to find him to beg him to return.

10. A young man is challenged to enter a nearly impenetrable building for the purpose of taking sexual liberties with an unconscious woman.

11. After deceitfully bragging about his successful career as a hit man, the title character is hired by various other parties to kill again, but instead he tricks two of his opponents into killing each other.

12. When the first of the three title characters meets a powerful and murderous adversary, he escapes being killed and is instead rewarded by giving an enticing description of the second title character as a more appealing victim. This behavior is repeated by the second title character, but when the third title character meets the adversary, he simply kills the fellow.

13. A young woman invades an isolated home, robbing it and committing criminal trespass until she is confronted by the homeowners, who frighten her away by threatening her life.

14. The title character spends several nights alone with an attractive young woman and later blackmails her to gain custody of her infant child.

15. Operating on the counsel of an accomplice, a woman attempts to poison a member of her family, who shares a communal living arrangement with several nonrelatives of the opposite gender.

16. A man takes possession of the valuable pet of another person. The appearance of this creature awakens greed and avarice in numerous neighbors, who attempt to remove the treasure from the young man's custody.

17. A voyeur conceals himself in the bedroom of several attractive young women and then joins them in nightly merrymaking.

18. A young man sneaks into a nearly inaccessible abode and steals several valuable objects of art. When chased by the homeowner, the man escapes by murdering his pursuer.

19. Several individuals illegally enter a local business establishment night after night and leave tantalizing signs of their presence but usually escape before the storeowner sees them.

20. Two people vandalize an isolated home and then are trapped and confined by the homeowner, who turns the tables on them by threatening them with cannibalism.
