Arlington, Texas - Members of Mensa are known for their test taking skills. But, on April 11 -13, members of the high IQ society won't be taking tests, they'll be doing the testing.

Each year, Mensans spend a weekend playing, testing, and rating the year's newest board and card games. The five board games that score the highest during the Mind Games™ competition receive Mensa Select® distinction.

The competition is held each spring in a different location. This year, it will be held in Houston, Texas. Mensans from around the nation will gather to judge the 50+ games.

"Mind Games is an intense, exciting event," said Jack Woodhead, chief judge of the competition. "Mensa judges will each play at least 30 new games in less than 48 hours. They will play board games, trivia games, party games, and card games. Mensa Select winners are not always "brainy" games. They're games that we enjoy playing - games that we would recommend to our friends."

The 2003 competition marks the 14th Mind Games competition. Past winners include such popular games as Tri-Bond, Apples to Apples, Smart Mouth, and Scattergories.

Mensa is the international high IQ society, admitting those who score in the top two percent on an accepted supervised, standardized intelligence test. Mensa Education and Research Foundation is the Mensa affiliate concerned with fostering human intelligence through scholarships, research, and recognition of outstanding work.
