About The World's Largest Brain

Arlington, Texas (June 15, 2001) - The World's Largest Brain is the most complex and expensive hot air balloon ever designed and manufactured. It is the realization of the dream of Dr. Scott Gibbs, an internationally known neurosurgeon. Presented by BrainLAB, the world's premier developer of software driven medical solutions for minimally-invasive surgery, the balloon is flown by Matt Wiederkehr of Wiederkehr Balloons and Mel Hanson, president of The Balloon Inc.

The "push-the-envelope" approach taken in engineering The World's Largest Brain has set new standards in hot air balloon aviation, and its state-of-the-art design is a first in the history of balloon manufacturing. The symbolic "brainy" messages the balloon offers create unique opportunities for commercial ballooning and aerial advertising.

"I want The World's Largest Brain to make it fun for all people to learn about the brain because it is the least understood, yet most central, organ to our healthy existence," said Gibbs. It is about promoting education and intelligence for self-development, as well as a vehicle for promoting a higher level of interest and enthusiasm for nervous system research."

The balloon will make its inaugural appearance at American Mensa's 39th Annual Gathering in Dallas at the Hotel Continental. It will fly on the 4th of July at 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. with a ground crew of Mensa members.
