Arlington, Texas (June 16, 2005) – At their upcoming Annual Gathering, members of Mensa will enjoy a special screening of “Make it Funky!”, a new documentary about the history and music of New Orleans.
“Make It Funky!” features the music of such great musicians as Aaron Neville, Irvin Mayfield and Earl Palmer. The film explores how New Orleans has changed the world of music and will be used to expose more than eight million public school students to the world of jazz and rhythm & blues.
“Movies and music are among the top interests of Mensa members, so this is a great fit for our gathering,” said Heather Miller, chair of Mensa’s Annual Gathering. “We invite others who share these interests to take the Mensa Admission Test on Wednesday, July 9 at 6:00 p.m. Test takers will receive a pass to enjoy all of Wednesday evening’s convention activities, including the screening of ”Make it Funky!’”
The movie screening will take place Wednesday, July 9 at 8:30 p.m. at the Sheraton New Orleans. Anyone who would like to take the Mensa Admission Test should arrive by 5:30 p.m. with a photo ID. The fee for testing is $30. Anyone who scores in the top two percent on the test will be invited to join American Mensa. For more information about the organization, visit www.previous.us.mensa.org.
