(Arlington, TX) - The American Mensa Committee has appointed Dr. G. Frank Lawlis to the position of supervisory psychologist.

The organization's supervisory psychologist ensures the integrity of American Mensa's testing program. Dr. Lawlis will ensure that each test administrator meets the strictest requirements of the testing companies and the American Psychological Association's highest ethical standards. He will also evaluate new tests to determine if they meet Mensa admission criteria.

Dr. Lawlis received his Ph.D. in psychology in 1968. He has served on the medical school faculties of New York Medical Center, Texas Tech Medical School, the University of Texas Health Center at San Antonio and Dallas, and Stanford Medical School. He has also authored and co-authored more than 100 articles and chapters as well as four textbooks.

"Dr. Frank Lawlis is the best practicing psychologist I know and the only one who has a diplomate (boarded by the American Board of Professional Psychologists) in both clinical and counseling psychology," said best-selling author Dr. Phil McGraw. "He is a superb scientist as well as a truly caring human being."

Dr. Lawlis replaces Dr. Abbie Salny as the association's supervisory psychologist. Dr. Salny is retiring after serving in the position for over 20 years. She also serves as the supervisory psychologist for Mensa International.

Based in Arlington, TX, American Mensa is an organization for anyone who scores in the top two percent on an accepted, standardized intelligence test. For more information about the organization, call 1-800-66-MENSA or visit us.mensa.org.
